Squidoo has been SLAPPED like a bi***!!
Ladies and gentlemen, I know I told you in the previous post that I was going to add a video on Joomla in this post, but I heard something shocking…no…I actually experienced it.
Google finally gave Squidoo the slap.
Squidoo Lens rankings in Google have dropped tremendously over the past few weeks as well as the traffic to Squidoo.com
A good friend of mine Jean Matthee has been a Squidoo expert basically since Squidoo started.
He has made Squidoo lenses on almost every topic you can think of. He also has people making lenses for him and paying them. You will hear more about his name as the big internet marketers “unveil” themselves to the public. I am lucky enough to just know the man.
Jean came to me recently with this shocking news about the Squidoo slap.
He said he started to realize that his lenses are dropping heavily in rankings even though 80% of all his lenses are in the top 100 of their respected categories in Squidoo.
Apparently Squidoo was the victim of some severe spamming. Spammers slapped up spam pages or even created hundreds of spam lenses. We all know that Google hates that.
Squidoo however have sorted it out, but to the public it looks like Google gave Squidoo the evil eye.
Now most of Jean’s lenses are not even in the top 100 Google results even though the majority of his lenses had Top 10 positions for their keywords!!
One lens was created in a niche with only 100 competing pages.
The lens got backlinks in the form of Articles, Rss, Press Releases, Blog Links and one way site links.
The 100 competing pages/sites had fewer backlinks than his lens, yet his lens failed to rank.
Before you jump to conclusions here…just remember, Jean’s other lenses as well as the lenses created for him all had top 10 positions.
Jean however gave some positive feedback. He said that Squidoo will regain its power again, but it will take time. How much time? No one knows. It’s all up to Google I think.
My personal opinion here is that Squidoo is still strong. It has an amazing look and feel to it and is fantastic for marketing. I just think that ranking well in Google now for your lenses are difficult and I think it’s gonna take time as Jean said.
Well…that’s it from me.
I have some resources here I think you should check out.
Now that Squidoo has fallen pray to Google, I think it’s time to set up brand new site which already has authority.
Now you probably don’t understand what I mean right?
1. Go to tdnam.com and buy yourself a domain which already as traffic to it. Look for the expired domains or ready to expire. They cost $5-$10. Go to www.archive.org and check out how the site looked before it was up for sale. The site HAS to be on the precise topic your new site will be. You don’t want to raise eyebrows at Google. You cannot build a site about Toys if the previous owner built a skin care website. The reason for buying a existing/expired domain is because it’s already out of the Google sandbox. You will instantly rank in Google.
2. Need very cheap hosting? Go for AnHosting. They are even recommended by Wordpress. Damn good package if you ask me.
3. Learn to do some article marketing to get one way backlinks fast. It’s the best way to get the best of both worlds (backlinks AND traffic).
If you are worried about your lens, then pull up your socks and start a website like I explained above.
Till next time,
Mr.Review
