The Affiliate Fusion Course
Hello all.
During the past week I have spoken to a good friend and super affiliate Jean Matthee.
He was the first person to tell me about the squidoo slap last year even before the word got out on the net.
We discussed things such as affiliate marketing and the latest tactics for cashing in online.
We basically FUSED our brains together. We even shared online income statements to see who cashed in the most at which network. This allowed us both to ask questions such as "what do you do differently with that network that makes you more money?". I rarely disclose any of my financial statements with the public or with any random person, but Jean has been a long time friend and he knows my history.
We both got this idea on Tuesday that we should do a podcast call about affiliate marketing!
Isn’t this exciting?
We are both amateur podcasters - I’m serious this is our first podcast, but I think we hammered it pretty well.
It will be a podcast course called The Affiliate Fusion Course
Each week we will release a new podcast on the subject.
In the first podcast we just introduce ourselves, cover the basics of affiliate marketing…basically speaking our minds.
We will obviously go into greater detail on effective affiliate marketing tactics in later podcasts. We will speak about things that most of you might not have used nor heard off. We are both silent super affiliates so get ready for a ride!

From Affiliate Failure to Stardom - Part 1
This post goes out to all struggling affiliates.
It’s about my enduring story as a young affiliate just starting out and how I struggled to be where I am today.
I take you through my failures up until my successes. Feel free to comment about your failures in the past as well. It’s learning out of your mistakes that bring success.
Let’s quickly go back a few years into the time when making money online was soooo easy. For me that was around 1999.

If you were online back then trying to make it you surely remember!
I still remember when I set up my very first affiliate site. It was on a free webhosting service known as Yahoo! Geocities. I was SO enthusiastic about cashing in the millions. I signed up at Commission Junction after reading about affiliate programs and affiliate marketing. The product was a wrinkle reducer treatment for women.
Just keep in mind this was like more than 6 years back or so. I didn’t no ANYTHING and it took me weeks just to learn the basics.
I built my little website and I added the product images. I also wrote one stenchy sales pitch about the product.
Back then in my virgin years as an affiliate marketer I didn’t really know what pre-selling was.
Once my free webpage was completed I was ecstatic and soon disappointed after finding out that there is something known as SEO that I need to implement in order to get visitors.
So I then went on my quest to become the next SEO expert.
I got smashed hard by information overload so I just implemented the basics. Title tags, keywords meta tag etc.
I submitted my website to Google and then to get backlinks I started to chat in forums in the anti aging niche. I added a backlink in my signature.
About 20 days after my submission my website was indexed! I was ecstatic yet again. I kept starring at the Google results throughout the day to see if my webpage would go up in rankings. To my dissapointed it never did. Another 2 weeks passed and I almost gave up.
Hanging on a thread…
Then by some miracle, one evening I logged into my Commission Junction account and saw a commission of $34.
I completely freaked out. I’m serious…I basically lost it then for a few minutes.
I couldn’t believe that I actually made money.
If it wasn’t for that commission I would probably have gave up.
I then decided I was going to get more money and build my own website around this niche. I still remember borrowing money from my mother to pay for the hosting and the domain name.
I spent a full month working on my website, adding information pages, review pages etc.
While working on my website I spent countless hours scouring the web in search for new ways to make money online and also better tactics for driving traffic.
2 Months go by, my website has been indexed by Google and I had articles driving traffic to my site.
I was signed up with various affiliate programs and promoted quite a few products.
I started seeing sales come in and I realised that my future was set.
That’s when things started to go from tasty to sour:
A month past and during that time my sales started to climb. I was averaging about $30 - $60 a day. That came to round about $1000 a month if you take the average. That wasn’t bad considering I was only 18 and still in school.
I then suddenly stopped getting more backlinks for my website; I stopped writing articles for traffic; I stopped basically everything.
During the 2 months following my laziness I even stopped checking my Google rankings.
Just after that 2 months I suddenly got a wake up call. I realised that my income has drastically dropped. I checked my stats and saw that I wasn’t making any sales! I checked my rankings in Google and saw I didn’t rank well anymore!
I thought to myself "what did I do to deserve this"??
I then went crazy and purchased the latest craze ebooks about SEO and affiliate marketing. I can’t remember what the books names were, but I tried to implement every strategy in those ebooks.
One of the books talked about designing a site in a specific manner so you get great results in the search engines.
I figured that the search engines was my biggest traffic source and that I needed to concentrate on getting my site back to where it was prior.
I completely re-designed my website in the way the person explained. I increased my keyword density out of desperation to rank better and even re-designed my entire site structure.
After that I went out and got a few backlinks to help increase the rankings of my newly designed power site.
I monitored the Google results again.
…again…I just monitored.
I stopped getting backlinks, I stopped promoting my site, I stopped tweaking.
I just stopped completely. The only thing working was my eyes on the Google search listing.
Yeah, you can say it…"what a dumb ass".
My site’s rankings shifted. One day it was on the first page and the next it was nowhere. It constantly shifted and I didn’t know what it was. Later I found out on a forum it was the Google dance (Google’s update period).
Then the doom approached.
My site was gone. Nowhere to be found.
My income dropped to a stunning ZERO.
I thought I was destined for failure. I thought I did everything wrong and was desperately looking for that magic bullet, but I just couldn’t find it.
